The police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 44-year-old man, Charles Ogunyinka, before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly touching his three-year-old daughter’s private parts indecently.

The defendant, a civil servant who resides at No. 13 Popoola Arandun St., Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos, was tried for indecent touching of a minor.

The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed in January 2025 at the defendant’s residence.

Mr Ademigbuji said the defendant’s wife left their daughter with him and went out, and on her return, she met the victim crying.

The prosecutor said that upon enquiry, the victim pointed to her private parts and mentioned her father.

According to him, the offence contravened section 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.

The chief magistrates, O. O Kushanu, granted the defendant N250,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Ms Kushanu adjourned the case until September 11 for mention.
