ABUJA/KANO, Nigeria

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the recall of all ambassadors, his special advisor and spokesperson said Saturday.

Ajuri Ngelale said exempted from the recall are the permanent representatives to the UN in New York and Geneva because of the UN General Assembly later this month.

He said Tinubu is committed to ensuring that henceforth, world-class efficiency and quality are at the forefront of international and domestic service delivery to citizens, residents and prospective visitors, noting the directive is a continuation of a careful review of the current state of Nigerian consulates and embassies worldwide.

The recall takes effect immediately.
