PESHAWAR, Pakistan On Monday, Latif Afridi, the former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and a prominent human rights activist, was killed after being shot six times in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) barroom.

Afridi was transferred to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, but the facility reported that he was dead upon arrival. Six bullets were fired at Afridi, according to the hospital administration.

SSP Operations Kashif Abbasi stated that the attacker, Adnan Afridi s/o Abdul Sami Afridi, was apprehended at the crime scene.

The police are looking into how the gunman managed to get inside the high court despite the security.

While further investigations are being conducted, the SSP stated that it appears to be a case of personal enmity between the two families.
