A helicopter belonging to oil giant Aramco crashed on Sunday, killing all 14 people on board in eastern Saudi Arabia.

The helicopter went down in Ras Tanura, according to the Saudi Press Agency, citing an official from the Energy Ministry. The crash occurred at about 3 p.m.

“The accident claimed the lives of all 14 passengers, all Saudi citizens,” the agency said, adding that an investigation was under way to determine the cause of the crash.

Aramco said it operates more than 60 aircraft, including helicopters serving over 300 heliports across Saudi Arabia, making it one of the largest corporate aviation fleets in the region.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known as of the time this story was filed.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, expressed his condolences in a post on X on Sunday.

“The Government, myself and the people of Pakistan are deeply grieved by the tragic news of the helicopter crash in Ras Tanura, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has claimed the 14 precious lives,” he wrote.

He extended Pakistan’s heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Saudi Arabia and also prayed for the victims and their grieving families.

“Pakistan stands in complete and unwavering solidarity with our Saudi brethren in this hour of national grief,” he added.
