KIGALI, Rwanda

Senegalese newly-elected President Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced a small Cabinet Friday, with Yassine Fall as foreign minister.

Fall is one of four women in the Cabinet.

Secretary-General of the Presidency Oumar Samba Ba announced a 25-member Cabinet headed by Ousmane Sonko who was appointed to prime minister post Tuesday.

Cheikh Diba was appointed finance and budget minister on the team which includes several leaders who supported Faye during the presidential election last month.

The Cabinet features senior officers in key positions, such as the former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Gen. Birame Diop, who was named Armed Forces minister and the former High Commander of the Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice, Jean Baptiste Tine, who was appointed interior minister.

Sonko said the government would “work to the appropriate and legitimate expectations of the people.”
