MOU Signing by NICA and PHCCIMA

Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Lagos, in partnership with Nigeria-Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA) and Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Industry (PHCCIMA), organized and implemented the 3rd Nigeria-Indonesia Business Forum on Thursday 25 July 2024, at Sweet Spirit Hotel & Suites Danag, 79 Ken Saro-Wiwa (Stadium) Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Beyond deepening trade and business ties between Nigeria and Indonesia, the event provided an informative and interactive session with Nigerian business leaders regarding the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia, slated for 9th-12th of October, Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE)-BSD City, Indonesia.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Nigeria, Dr. H. Usra Hendra Harahap, M.Si, while giving his welcome speech stated that “The 39th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2024 would present 3 zones of categorized products such as Food, Beverage and Agricultural Products, Manufactured Products and also Home Living, Fashion and Services”. While wishing participants a productive deliberations, he reiterated the commitment of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to Nigeria in facilitating business, trade, cultural and educational relations between Indonesia and Nigeria.

The event had H. E. Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State as Special Guest of Honour; and represented by Chief Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government. While declaring the business forum open, His Excellency commended the organizers for choosing Port Harcourt as the venue for the event and pledged his government support towards creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Rivers State.

In his speech, Dr. Immanuel Lingga, the Director of Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Lagos, welcomed participants and urged them to explore the rich business and trade opportunities that is found in Indonesia, by participating in the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), confirmed for 9-12 October 2024, at ICE-BSD City, Indonesia. Providing support to the Director of ITPC Lagos, is the Deputy Director, Mr. Arif Indrakusnadi and Mr. Randolf Silaen, Government and Public Relations Officer.

In his speech, HRH R.W.I. Samuel Sambo X, Vice President of Nigeria-Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA), recounted the over a decade commitment of NICA at deepening trade ties between Nigeria and Indonesia, through the organization of business delegations to Indonesia, as well as participation in the annual Trade Expo Indonesia, and enjoined participants to seize the opportunity presented by the business forum to register and attend the 2024 Trade Expo Indonesia. Also in attendance, was Dr. Elvis Enyioko, the Executive Secretary, Nigeria-Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA).

The Chief Host of the event, Eze Sir Mike Elechi, President, Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), hailed the strong partnership his organization has established with ITPC Lagos and NICA, manifested in the joint implementation of the 3rd Nigeria-Indonesia Business Forum in Port Harcourt and other future joint activities that will benefit members of his organization. Present also was the Director General, Mr. Erasmus Chukunda, Executives and members of PHCCIMA, who graced the event in their numbers.

The Chief Guest of Honour, Mr. Manish Mundra, the Managing Director of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals (IEPL) Limited, was represented by Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, the Director of Communication, IEPL.

The event witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by the Vice President of Nigeria-Indonesia Commercial Association (NICA) and the President, Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) for future events collaborations.
