U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro has been captured by U.S. forces months after declaring him wanted for cocaine trafficking into the United States.
Mr Trump, in a post on Truth Social on Saturday, announced Mr Maduro has been captured and would be moved out of his country.
“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country,” Mr Trump said.
He added, “This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
This comes barely few months after U.S. government declared Mr Maduro wanted for allegedly peddling drugs into the United States and offering $50million reward for information leading to the arrest of Mr Maduro.
Also, U.S. government said it confistitcated assets worth $700 million linked to Mr Maduro accused of trafficking drugs into the United States of America, while doubling bounty for his arrest to $50million.
