KIEV

The US’s new charge d’affaires to Ukraine arrived in the capital Kyiv to assume her duties, Washington’s diplomatic mission said in a statement on Monday.

“We are pleased to welcome new Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Julie S. Davis to Kyiv,” the US Embassy in Ukraine said on X.

The statement said Davis’s arrival in Kyiv comes at a “critical time” to carry forward President Donald Trump’s policy to end the ongoing Ukraine war and ensure “lasting peace and prosperity” in the country.

Last week, the US embassy said Davis would assume the role of interim charge d’affaires as of May 5, until Trump nominates a new ambassador.

“She will work tirelessly to end the war and stop the bloodshed while strengthening the bilateral relationship making both America and Ukraine safer, stronger, and more prosperous,” the statement added.

The State Department confirmed last month that US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink would step down from her position after three years in Kyiv.

No details were provided about the reason for Brink’s departure or her future plans.
