The US Treasury Department on Friday removed Ethiopia-related sanctions designations from its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List after a national emergency declared over the country’s humanitarian and human rights crisis expired.
The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said the emergency, declared under Executive Order 14046 on Sept. 17, 2021, had expired.
OFAC removed from the SDN List individuals and entities designated under the order whose property had been blocked.
Separately, OFAC amended a Russia-related license to allow certain talks, agreements and related activities involving the possible sale of oil giant Lukoil’s international assets, held through its subsidiary Lukoil International GmbH.
