The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, has commenced preparations for the Eid-el-Kabir Special Patrol Operations to ensure safer roads, free flow of traffic, and a reduction in road crashes during the festive period.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Kaduna by the Command’s Public Enlightenment Officer (PEO), Route Commander Usman Garba.

Mr Garba said the special patrol operation was designed to enhance safety on all major highways and critical corridors across the state through increased patrol visibility, strategic deployment of personnel, prompt rescue services, and sustained public enlightenment campaigns.

According to him, the command has deployed 1,462 Regular Marshals and 472 Special Marshals for effective coverage during the operation.

He added that 25 patrol vehicles, eight ambulances, two heavy-duty tow trucks, one tow truck carrier, and five motorcycles had also been deployed to strategic locations across the state for effective traffic management and quick response to emergencies during the Sallah celebrations.

The PEO further disclosed that the command’s roadside clinics had been activated and adequately stocked with medical consumables to provide immediate medical attention and emergency response services to crash victims during the patrol period.

He advised motorists to avoid excessive speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving, lane indiscipline, tyre violations, and other traffic offences capable of causing avoidable crashes on the highways.

Mr Garba said the sector commander, CC Andrew Longkam, urged all road users to cooperate with FRSC personnel and other security agencies by obeying traffic rules and regulations throughout the festive period.

He quoted the sector commander as emphasising the need for motorists to ensure that their vehicles were roadworthy before embarking on any journey.

The statement also advised motorists to watch out for possible diversions and traffic build-up due to ongoing road construction along major corridors within the state.

It appealed to drivers to exercise patience, obey traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic management personnel deployed along affected routes.

According to the statement, the special patrol operation would involve collaboration with sister security and emergency response agencies to ensure prompt rescue services, effective traffic control, and immediate removal of obstructions from highways.

The command encouraged members of the public to report crashes, traffic obstructions, and emergencies through the FRSC toll-free emergency number 122 for necessary assistance.

The FRSC Kaduna State sector command wished Muslim faithful a peaceful, safe, and crash-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
